Chris Margoblou

"Born in a small, declining industrial town. In an equally declining family, I grew up alone. Avoiding, as best I could, the murderous words and the blows. I grew up hiding in the shadows, silent, discreet. Observing the beauty of the world, human nastiness and sometimes, beautiful souls. When I was seven, I found a big blue book in a dustbin. A volume of the great painters. I discovered INGRES and The Turkish Bath, La Vie by PICASSO, a nude by MODIGLIANI. I knew I would be a painter. I drew, making my dark hours beautiful. Dyslexia hindered my words, drawing freed my expression. Graduated from the Ecole de Condé of LYON, France, in art photography, I did not like to lose my spontaneity, my intuition. The rigour of the technique, the rules. I prefer to learn from the hazards of practice. I promised myself to study painting alone. Never betray my feelings. To continue to observe life and to inscribe in the canvas the strength of my emotions. Whether I paint a portrait, a landscape, love or war, I paint the feelings of the heart, the words of the soul, the solitude of man.
