Claudia Chang

Artist Biography:

I was born in 1983 in Taichung City, Taiwan. My hometown is a beautiful city, resembling the essence of poems and paintings in its natural environment. Nature has been an inseparable part of my life since my upbringing. Throughout my painting journey, I delved into traditional Chinese ink painting, calligraphy, and harbored a fascination with Japanese manga during my formative years. Simultaneously, I've been engrossed in learning Western-style painting since childhood. These diverse influences have significantly shaped my unique painting style. Except for my elementary and junior high school years, art has been the cornerstone of my life, encompassing painting, design, and every associated aspect.

I am Chang Chi Yun (English name: Claudia Chang), an artist who embraces the radiance of hope and gracefully navigates between energy and beauty. My forte lies in capturing the dynamic essence and allure of women and animals. I amalgamate three distinct painting styles—Eastern ink painting, Western techniques, and Japanese animation—creating a distinctive fusion. Additionally, I intricately portray the luminous contours I perceive, resulting in an abundance of curved lines and ink technique elements in my works. My art resonates with shades of Western post-impressionism yet retains the essence of ink; it possesses an illustrative quality while remaining pure in its artistic expression.
