Sikiu Mendez Samelnik

Sikiu Mendez Samelnik is an independent artist, originally from Caracas, Venezuela. At the age of 17, she relocated to Miami, Florida, where she currently resides.

Ever since her childhood, Sikiu has held a fascination for textures, straight lines, and geometrical shapes. This passion was nurtured by her grandfather, who shared a deep love for painting and sculptures. His influence played a crucial role in shaping her appreciation for fine art.

In her artistic statement, Sikiu emphasizes creating content at the intersection of art and design. Her work combines various textures with contrasting materials, utilizing acrylic as a base and incorporating elements such as plaster, concrete, recycled materials, and aluminum wire mesh. The result is a collection of rough and uneven images that evoke a sense of movement.

Sikiu pursued her education in Graphic Design and earned her B.F.A. from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2008. She has since worked as a graphic designer while simultaneously dedicating herself to abstract art, particularly focusing on three-dimensional creations.

Sikiu takes great pride in her ability to create content that resonates with people's emotions. She finds immense joy in sharing the world of art with her two children, believing that art serves as a powerful connection to others' feelings.
