Soraya Farha

Soraya Farha is a versatile artist who engages in painting, writing, poetry, and photography. Residing in Toronto, she is fortunate to lead both a thriving creative life and an inspiring legal career, finding a harmonious relationship between these two worlds. Soraya delves into the exploration of color and form through abstraction, utilizing various multimedia including acrylic, pastel, and oil stick. In addition to her endeavors in the visual arts, Soraya has authored fiction and poetry and is currently working on a book centered around sisterhood and loss.

“Ever since childhood, my response to dislocation or loss has been to seek transcendence through deep immersion in the natural world, music, dance, poetry, prose, and visual art. Following a profound personal loss in 2011, this quest became pressing, and I yearned for ways to embody the beauty that I encountered daily as a countermeasure to my profound grief. I commenced writing poetry, short stories, and non-fiction. Desiring a more tangible form of expression, I turned to drawing and painting, where the very act of engaging in the creative process is, for me, a source of profound joy. My inspiration is drawn from poetry, song lyrics, and the natural world, spanning from city gardens to Canada's wilderness with its forests, lakes, and twilight skies by the ocean.”
