Judith Yahaya

Judith Yahaya is a Nigerian Visual Artist with a B.A in Fine Art and practices as a full-time studio artist. Her art explores social conditioning and the connection between people and their environment. In her body of work, she examines how ideologies and structures are linked to psychological patterns and the basis for human and social interaction, highlighting issues concerning gender and identity. Her works embodies a contemporary African society. Using the reflex method, she creates each subject with colours on their skin that reveals an interpretation of influence and an interconnection. The expressive use of warm and cool colours, texture and an inscription of spiral patterns, a symbol of growth, found across African cultures. She uses her art to promote individuality, question structures and re- imagining possibilities.
