Artist Biography / Artist Statement

Born in Brescia in 1980, Aioria approached primitive photographic experiments in 2016, ranging from glamour portraits to artistic nudes. His early works, inspired by the Nouvelle Vague, favor impromptu sets where the subject is free of spatial constraints—improvised locations such as domestic walls, modest equipment, and makeshift lights. The initial figurative research of delicacy later gives way to an investigation into the contraction of the body, where the subject poses in conditions of muscular tension, almost a call to externalize the masculine part of the woman. A lover of Caravaggio, he considers photography—and every form of art—as a game to be played in adulthood. The secret of life lies in not taking oneself too seriously, as well as in the enchanted pleasure of reinventing oneself every day.
