Barbara Christol

Artist Biography / Artist Statement
Barbara Christol is a French artist who grew up immersed in creative worlds and developed a passion for
drawing early on. She studied at the Beaux-Arts and graduated from the prestigious Sorbonne University in
Paris, where she explored the concept of the "transitional labyrinth". Inspired by Kandinsky, Klee, and
Vasarely, she sees creation as a playful yet thoughtful journey shaped by chance, repetition, and
movement. Her poetic geometric forms evolve into landscapes, architecture, and constellations — revealing
optimistic worlds through expressive gesture. The act of drawing itself becomes a revealing force,
allowing invisible structures and sensibilities to emerge. She explores themes of displacement and scale
through drawings, paintings, and ephemeral thread installations using yarn, her signature material. Her
practice blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary approaches, continuously weaving and
unweaving her artistic path.
