Bridget Farrands

Artist Biography / Artist Statement
I paint landscapes and still life in acrylic and oils. In my paintings, I try to interpret the mood, structure, and feel of the landscape. My subjects are places I have visited, where I have been moved by walking in them, or I use photographs of places I have never been to but which make an impact visually.

I show the landscapes I paint through the patterning of their contours, and the rhythms of colour and light, so that they offer the viewer a new experience of what the landscape can be. They are abstracted from the ‘real’ world without being abstract.

My still life paintings also try to extract from the object(s) the mood and feeling they give me and which the image tries to convey.
