Chiya Clika

Artist Biography / Artist Statement

Chiya Clika (b. 1998, London) is an artist raised in London with familial roots in Hong Kong and across Asia. He studied Fashion Communication at Central Saint Martins before going on to study Architecture at The Bartlett, UCL.

His debut exhibition garnered attention for its quiet elegance and conceptual precision. Centred on the identity of 14th-century porcelain, the show navigated themes of iconography, constructed identity, and cultural translation within the context of the contemporary image world.

Chiya’s practice spans both digital and physical realms. His paintings are marked by a hyper-minimalist aesthetic, drawing from contemporary visual culture while engaging broader cultural undercurrents. His work reflects on how history is preserved, adapted, and reimagined in an era where images shift, dissolve, and reappear within seconds.
