Artist Biography / Artist Statement

Erin Rockwood is a self-taught artist specializing in Oil Paintings employing the Impasto technique.She only uses palette knives & several layers of thick oil paint to create a 3 dimensional effect of extreme depth & texture.She resides in Florida,USA and is inspired by all of the beautiful nature that surrounds her. She uses bright colors & her paintings are made to evoke a sense of joy, energy & wonder and a deeper connection to the subjects she paints.She is an avid gardener & her interactions with dragonflies, butterflies,& hummingbirds encourage her to paint them.She loves the ocean & all of the ocean's creatures which are such an inspiration to her.She is currently working on some large scale Mermaids.She is focusing on creating more Multi-Directional art pieces which can offer the viewer multiple viewpoints & interpretations.
