Gina Kalo

Artist Biography / Artist Statement:

Gina Kalo (Gina Kalogirou) is a fine art photographer and poet born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and raised in Brussels, Belgium, where she currently resides. She received intensive training in documentary film photography from the Brussels Fine Arts Academy (Beaux Arts) and in digital photography from the International Center of Photography in New York City.

Her project Dream Places features uniquely colour-bursting photographs of landmark world destinations she particularly cherishes: Barcelona, Brussels, Mykonos, Marrakech, NYC, and Paris. Her approach renders these famous places dreamy and magnetic, almost fantastic and otherworldly.

Aside from her love for photography, Gina enjoys reading, travelling, swimming, and engaging with the arts more broadly, while being an ongoing supporter of both human and animal rights.
