Harry Bauer
Artist Biography / Artist Statement:
Harry Bauer – 24.10.1947, Germany
For over thirty years, I have pursued a personal visual language shaped by Art Informel and inspired by Jean Fautrier, Antoni Tàpies, and Jackson Pollock. Working with materials such as corrugated cardboard, wallpaper, rust, and bitumen, I create works of intense texture, depth, and expression.
My large-scale paintings explore the tension between abstraction, bursts of colour, and grounded calm. Recently, I have contrasted the stability of the square with organic forms, free brushstrokes, and the dynamic shaping of recycled materials into three-dimensional reliefs. In an increasingly digital world, my work asserts the physical presence of art. Through a radical fusion of material, gesture, and structure, I bring the legacy of Art Informel into the present.
