Inès Vanlaeys

Artist Biography / Artist Statement
Inès Vanlaeys is a multidisciplinary artist based in Paris. Her work is deeply rooted in and inspired by the Corsican and Alpine landscapes. She uses bold brushstrokes and raw, vibrant colors to convey vitality and evoke the ethereal sensations one feels when faced with the sea or an infinite plain. The imposing silence of the mountains, the vast, raw landscapes, and the rapture of a dancing crowd are the same thing for her: a rush of life you feel in the throat—a rush she seeks to represent on canvas, using rough textures, silhouettes, and imprecise compositions.
