Irina Owlik
Artist Biography / Artist Statement:
My art is born at the intersection of everyday life and the inner world, shaped by my personal experience of overcoming limitations. Since childhood, I lived with the feeling that being myself was unsafe. I was taught to hide my emotions and suppress my desires in order to fit in and stay invisible. These beliefs, rooted in my body and mind, limited my freedom to feel and express. Art became a way to peel away those layers of fear and self-doubt, reclaiming my voice and freedom.
My visual language is built on sensations and spontaneous associations that find their way into colour and form. I work with mobile photography and alternative equipment, transforming images through editing to reveal new meanings and go beyond literal representation.
