Artist Biography / Artist Statement

Ivana Gagić Kičinbači (b. 1980) is a Croatian contemporary artist whose practice operates within the expanded field of abstraction, engaging phenomenological questions of perception, spatiality, and liminality. Working through restrained gestural systems derived from drawing and layered structural compositions, she examines transitional states in which material and immaterial dimensions intersect. Her works articulate inner landscapes as perceptual environments rather than representational images, structured through tension, suspension, and reduction. Central to her practice is the investigation of drawing as a medium capable of articulating metaphysical and spatial experience. Her work has been presented internationally in curated solo and group exhibitions across Europe, the United States, and Asia. Through minimal formal means, she considers how presence emerges through interval, restraint, and the disciplined negotiation of visual force.
