Joanna

Joanna Levesley is a self-taught contemporary artist who resides and creates in Sheffield, England. She has not undergone any formal training in the creative industries. Her inspiration takes various forms and sizes, drawn from everything she observes and hears in her surroundings. Her artwork immediately captivates the viewer, enticing them to explore further, revealing hidden details that almost resemble fractals. The more you examine her work, the more you discover.

The majority of Joanna's creations originate from her imagination, with subject matter inspired by whatever piques her interest at any given moment, whether it be nature, music, objects, or pure fantasy. She perceives music as a three-dimensional form rather than just sound, and this perspective often finds expression in her art, giving her pieces a unique personality and performance.

Joanna's work is strongly influenced by the surrealistic styles of Salvador Dali and M.C. Escher. She is dedicated to crafting abstract, fantasy pieces that aim to explore the beauty of the human spirit through her art.

Joanna primarily works with black and white pen and ink drawings, as well as acrylic painting, resulting in dramatic and surrealistic compositions that transport viewers into intricate, enigmatic worlds. As an artist, she believes in using intricate lines to convey powerful concepts.

Through her abstract approach, she often creates pieces that appear to have just formed thoughts, bending the mind and making viewers question whether what they've seen is pure illusion, compelling them to return for repeated viewings.
