Artist Biography / Artist Statement

KOSHO was born in 1975 in Shiga, Japan. After earning a Doctorate in Medicine, he worked for many years in clinical practice while pursuing fundamental questions about human consciousness and existence. This inquiry led him to undergo rigorous training in Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, through which he became an ordained monk and Ajari (master practitioner).

Living across both scientific and spiritual disciplines, KOSHO gradually shifted his inquiry beyond language and theory into visual expression. In 2023, he began his artistic practice in earnest as a painter.

Through abstract painting, he explores the resonance between human consciousness and the universe, creating works that function not as representations, but as experiential fields of perception and awareness.
