Maite Farreres
The art of Maite Farreres is the perfect combination of an innate talent, a solid academic background and an incessant inspiration, with the desire to experience new frontiers in her work. After a first period in which she explored acrylic with a brushstroke of neo-impressionist influence, she currently focuses her work on watercolor combined with India ink.
Her technique, casual and spontaneous at first glance, can only be the result of extraordinary skill with the brush, since it allows her to draw the sketch directly in Chinese ink, without preparation or guidelines for proportions or perspectives. For all these reasons, Maite's works are essentially fresh, eased, leaving the viewer the possibility of imaginatively completing the lines of the drawing, thus personalizing the contemplation of the painting.
With an unlimited color palette, Maite chooses the most appropriate for each environment, without renouncing to include the reserve as one more line of her painting. Her creative practice has evolved from the urban landscape, with special emphasis on architectural design, to the generation of environments -interiors or exteriors- where the protagonism of the characters is shared with the daily scene of streets, squares or cafes. As the passionate traveler that she is, Maite never stops finding inspiration in the environments she frequents, which she later transfers to the studio to capture it in her work.
