Maryam Zadeh

Artist Biography / Artist Statement:
Maryam Zadeh is a multidisciplinary visual artist and educator based in New York City. Her creative practice spans painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, illustration, performance art, murals, and videography, reflecting a deep fluency across media. With an educational foundation including an MA in Art Teaching from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and licensure in art education in Illinois and Iran, Maryam often merges artistic expression with pedagogy—designing storytelling-driven lesson plans that intertwine cultural narratives, performance, and visual arts across generations. Her work engages classical figurative techniques while drawing on Persian heritage, pattern, color, and spiritual symbolism—translating memory, light, and tradition into layered, emotional compositions. Each piece is rooted in both craft and personal history, inviting reflection and resonance. Also, Maryam continues to cultivate art as a platform for cultural storytelling, intergenerational connection, and cross-disciplinary exploration.
