Minni Mäkinen

Minni Mäkinen is a Finnish-born, Swiss-based artist who combines still-life photography and painting to create multilayered works exploring transformation, time, and identity. She uses her photographs as digital paint, constructing dynamic yet calming pieces which bridge the tangible and abstract, capturing movement and distortion.

Her earlier works reflect the vibrant energy of transition, examining how past experiences shape who we are individually and collectively. Today, Mäkinen creates softer, layered compositions inviting viewers to slow down and reflect on the rapid pace of modern life. Through her art, she highlights the sensitivity we carry as a society, questioning why this natural trait, often seen as a burden, is not more embraced. Mäkinen hopes her art serves as a gentle reminder to slow down and nurture our sensitive sides.
