Myroslava Boikiv

Artist Biography / Artist Statement:

Myroslava Boikiv is a Ukrainian artist based in Toronto who works with textiles and watercolor. Her practice explores the contemporary potential of textiles, creating artworks from repurposed materials such as fabric and textured paper. The interplay between fragility and resilience in these materials shapes the meaning of her work, while her experimental approach allows textiles to transcend traditional boundaries and enter new dimensions of form and expression. Each piece requires hundreds of hours of meticulous work, emphasizing the meditative and enduring nature of her artistic process.

Rooted in tradition yet marked by freedom and openness, Myroslava combines historical techniques with a conceptual sensibility. Her practice engages in a dialogue between material, form, and idea, transforming contemporary textiles into a fluid, unrestricted artistic language that bridges heritage and innovation.
