Artist Biography / Artist Statement

Rage Kamiyama is an illustration and digital comic artist based in Osaka, Japan.

They received a degree in Digital Film Production in the United Kingdom, which led them to believe that visual storytelling is the most powerful medium for personal expression.

Originally starting their career as a graphic novel artist, Kamiyama has published over ten independent zines, with several distributed through independent bookshops in Tokyo.

In 2025, they began exploring diverse artistic methods, including visual diaries, photography, watercolour, and acrylic painting. They often utilize analogue paints and sketches before redrawing them digitally to experiment with themes and composition.

Kamiyama produces both narrative and essay-based comics. Their essay comics are largely inspired by their daily encounters, finding humor in a unique mixture of British and Japanese styles.
