SVVAN
Artist Biography / Artist Statement
Jade Huynh is a professional origami artist whose creative path began far from the traditional fine art world. After attending Le Cordon Bleu, she spent ten years working as a pastry chef, developing the patience, precision, and craftsmanship that would later influence her artistic practice. Origami, a childhood hobby, gradually became a deeper passion and ultimately led her to leave the culinary industry to pursue art professionally.
Growing up in Minnesota as the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants, Jade often struggled with identity and finding a sense of belonging. Origami became both a creative outlet and a deeply personal form of self-expression. Through her work as SVVAN, she continues to explore the possibilities of paper folding, transforming a traditional craft into contemporary fine art while remaining rooted in persistence and intuition.
