THEK
Artist Biography / Artist Statement
Raised in rural Pennsylvania, Shannon Thek Prier is a natural-born artist whose creativity was a constant presence from childhood, influenced by nature and a familial connection to Paul Thek. Her artistic path developed organically, shaped more by self-reflection and life experience than formal training. Early careers enriched her perspective, but the pull of art proved inevitable. Thek’s work centers on pour painting, a technique that blends deliberate control with spontaneity, creating luminous, meditative compositions. Each piece invites both artist and viewer to enter a space of stillness and reflection.
Through this process, Thek navigates a balance of submission and creation, engaging deeply with both materials and self. Her art embodies the unpredictable energy of the natural world while fostering calm and introspection.
