Toria Ya Tuo

Artist Biography / Artist Statement:

Toria Ya Tuo is a textile artist and art therapist based in London. She founded her embroidery jewellery brand Toria London in 2022. Toria's artworks have been featured in academic publications and art websites in both the UK and China.

Her works are primarily created using water-soluble embroidery. The seamless connection achieved through this technique gives each piece a unique texture and sensation, making colours vivid and organic shapes feel alive. Her practice explores the relationship between emotions, the body, and materials. By applying art and handicrafts as a medium for communication, she creates work that bridges personal experience and collective expression.

Toria continues to cultivate her passion for research focused on emotion and the specific psychological needs of vulnerable people, aiming to use art as a tool for healing and deeper understanding in her future studies.
