Zerrin Atakan
Artist Biography / Artist Statement:
Zerrin is a Turkish-born, London-based artist who transitioned from a career in psychiatry to pursue art full time three years ago. Long captivated by surrealism, she began her creative journey with airbrush techniques before moving into oils and digital painting. Her work tells stories that delve into the striking contrast between humanity’s potential for beauty and its capacity for destruction.
Guided by a deep concern for political, environmental, and women’s issues, Zerrin’s art aims to provoke thought, stir emotion, and occasionally evoke discomfort. Her unique style blends realism with a naïve aesthetic, celebrating color and light while maintaining a strong narrative presence. Whether precisely rendered or intuitively crafted, each piece reflects her enduring belief in art as a catalyst for reflection and change.
