Artist Biography / Artist Statement

Zibeyda Seyidova is an artist working in abstract painting. Her practice explores memory, perception, and states of experience that exist before they acquire form or can be articulated through language. Drawing on a phenomenological understanding of perception, she considers the individual not as a detached observer, but as part of a world encountered through the body, emotion, and inherited histories.

In her work, memory is not an archive of the past, but an active force shaping the present and connecting personal experience with culturally transmitted sensations. Avoiding fixed symbols and linear narratives, Seyidova creates spaces in which meaning emerges through sustained attention.

For her, painting is not a representation of reality, but an event of perception that keeps open the threshold between the visible, the experienced, and the not yet named.
